Banana Republic Men’s Size Chart

Some Banana Republic tops also come in Tall lengths — same body measurements, just cut longer or shorter. Pick the one for your height:

• Regular — standard length
• Tall — for men over 6′1″ (est.)

Not every product comes in every length.

Banana Republic defines Tall by sleeve length, not height. Most people know their height, so we switch to Tall at about 6′1″ as a stand-in — an estimate bracketed by peers (Nike 6′0″, Adidas 6′2″). Enter your sleeve in the calculator for BR’s exact criterion.

• Sold as letter sizes (XXS–XXL). If your product’s size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• We size Banana Republic tops by your chest, with neck and waist as secondary checks — your chest sets the size, and a fuller waist just nudges you toward sizing up for room. One chart covers BR’s casual shirts, polos, tees, sweaters, hoodies and dress shirts (its dress shirts sell in letters, not collar sizes). Most tops sell XS–XXL; XXS comes in one sweatshirt only, and it was sold out when we checked.
• BR’s shirt chart lists a slim waist that contradicts its own outerwear and bottoms charts (and it changes with the fit, so it isn’t a body measurement). We use the body waist BR’s jacket chart prints for the same letters.
• Tall is a Regular/Tall choice on the product page, M–XXL: same chest and neck, sleeves about 1–1½″ longer. BR gives no height for it, so we switch at about 6′1″ unless you enter a sleeve.
• Jackets and coats size here too — BR’s outerwear chart shares this chest and waist and only adds about ½–1″ of sleeve at XL and above. BR’s shirt chart also lists a belt size; we leave it off — it’s accessory sizing, not a body measurement.

• Sold as waist × length sizes (28–44). If your product’s size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• We size Banana Republic’s jeans, chinos and dress and suit pants by your body waist — a 32″ waist is a size 32. BR publishes no body chart for its numbered pants (its own product size guides show the letter chart), and its letter chart and size filter confirm the one-to-one read (an M is the 32–34 tags). Land on a number and that’s your size; between two, we name both and lean to the larger.
• Length is picked from your inseam, or your height if you haven’t measured it (our estimate — BR publishes no length-by-height guide). BR’s chart shows which waist × inseam combinations it cuts and it’s uneven, so we steer to the closest length it lists for your waist — but products vary: today’s jeans and chinos come in 30, 32 and 34″ inseams (34 from a 32 waist up). BR’s chart also lists 28 and 36 inseams and waists 26, 27 and 37 that no pant comes in, so they aren’t here.
• Dress and suit pants add sizes 42 and 44. BR’s tuxedo pant sells 28–44 with Short, Regular and Long lengths (29½″, 31½″ and 33½″ inseams) and, BR says, runs a size small. On dress pants the length token isn’t the inseam — a “30L” tapered dress pant has a 26½″ inseam — so check the product’s own figures.

• BR’s pull-on pants and shorts and its other letter-sized bottoms use letter sizes (XS–XXL) by body waist — the letter table on BR’s bottoms chart, separate from its numbered jeans and chinos (though BR’s own filter maps the two: an M is the 32–34 tags). BR’s chart also lists an XXS that no pull-on or letter-sized bottom comes in, so it isn’t here.
• BR leaves small gaps between these sizes; if your waist lands in a gap, we round up to the next size (you can still size down for a slimmer fit).
• BR’s centimeter view of this table is wrong from M up (it repeats the shirts chart’s slim waist), so we convert the inch figures ourselves — BR’s jacket chart prints the same conversions. Underwear has its own BR chart: this ladder except that its S fits a 28–30″ waist.

• Sold as chest sizes (36–48). If your product’s size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• Suit jackets, blazers and sport coats sell by chest number, 36 to 48, in Short, Regular and Long. BR publishes no body chart for them — only which combinations it cuts — so a size is your chest measurement: a 40″ chest is a 40, and BR’s own filter puts each number under the shirts letter that covers it (36 is an S, 38–40 an M, 42–44 an L, 46–48 an XL). Between two numbers we name both, leaning larger.
• Length is by height and BR gives no cutoffs: Short and Regular come in 36–42, Regular and Long in 44–48, all three in 40–42. BR’s chart also lists a 50 as an online exclusive, but no jacket comes in it, so it isn’t here. Suit pants sell by waist on the Pants tab.
