J.Crew Men’s Size Chart

Some J.Crew tops also come in Tall lengths — same body measurements, just cut longer or shorter. Pick the one for your height:

• Classic — standard length
• Tall — for men 6′0″–6′3″

Not every product comes in every length.

J.Crew recommends Tall sizes for men 6′0″–6′3″ (its own stated band), with the body and sleeves cut about 2″ longer. We switch to Tall at 6′0″ to match. Enter your arm length in the calculator to pick the length by your actual arm instead.

• Sold as letter sizes (X-Small to XXXL). If your product’s size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• One J.Crew chart covers men’s tees, polos, sweaters, sweatshirts, casual shirts and the dress shirts sold by letter, plus coats and jackets — X-Small to XX-Large, each with the body chest, waist and neck J.Crew publishes. Chest sets the size; waist and neck are the checks.
• Classic, Slim, Slim Untucked, Relaxed and Tall are J.Crew’s fit choices on the product page. All but Tall print the same body measurements on J.Crew’s size chart, so your size doesn’t change: Slim and Relaxed change the cut, and Slim Untucked runs 1¼″ shorter in the body and 1″ in the sleeves. Tall keeps your size and runs 2″ longer in both; J.Crew cuts it in Medium to XX-Large.
• Coats and jackets open J.Crew’s outerwear chart, which has the same chest and waist at every size, so your size is the same here; its XX-Large arm runs ½″ shorter.
• Some J.Crew tees, polos, sweatshirts and jackets open a size chart of that garment’s own measurements — chest, shoulder, sleeve and length of the clothes, not of you — in place of J.Crew’s body chart. Those run several inches over your tape by design; this tab uses J.Crew’s body measurements.
• XXXL is on J.Crew’s chart, but only one sweater comes in it, and it was sold out when we checked. About 35 sweaters and rugby shirts, many of them sold as unisex, also come in an XX-Small, which J.Crew’s men’s chart doesn’t measure, so it has no row here. • Sold as waist × length sizes (27–44). If your product’s size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• J.Crew’s jeans, chinos, pants and suit pants sell by waist and length (a 32/32), and its shorts and a few pants by waist alone. J.Crew publishes no body measurement for each waist size — a pant’s size chart shows either J.Crew’s letter table or the pant’s own garment measurements — so we read each size as the waist it’s cut for: a 32 fits a 32″ waist. That is what J.Crew’s own chart says (its Medium is a 32–34″ waist and covers the 32, 33 and 34), and its garment charts step one inch per size. Land on a number and you get that size; between two, we name both and lean to the larger.
• Length (30 to 38) comes from your inseam, or your height if you haven’t measured it (our estimate — J.Crew publishes no length-by-height guide). Not every waist comes in every length: the 36 length comes only in waists 34 to 38, the 38 length only up to a 38 waist and the 34 length from a 30 waist up, so we steer you to the nearest length J.Crew makes in your waist.
• Many J.Crew jeans and chinos open a chart of the pant’s own measurements — its waistband, hip, thigh, inseam and rise, a few inches over the body it fits — in place of a body chart. We size by your body waist, not that table.
• J.Crew’s menus list a 44 waist on about 45 jeans, chinos and pants, and every one was sold out when we checked; the 42 is in stock on a few shorts. One collaboration jean also sells a 27. J.Crew’s size conversion names a 41, 43 and 45 that no pant comes in, so they aren’t here.

• J.Crew’s letter-sized bottoms — underwear, swim trunks, pajama and lounge pants and shorts, sweatpants and letter-sized shorts — size by body waist, X-Small to XX-Large, on J.Crew’s bottoms chart. J.Crew leaves a 1″ gap between letters (a 28½″ waist sits between X-Small and Small); land in one and we round up.
• J.Crew’s chart also lists an XXXL and XXXXL that no letter bottom comes in, so they aren’t here. Two sweatpants and a jogger also come in Tall, Medium to XX-Large: the same waist with a longer leg (J.Crew prints no Tall table for bottoms).

• J.Crew’s dress shirts sell by collar and sleeve: the menu’s 15h/33 is a 15½ collar with a 33″ sleeve (J.Crew writes the half sizes with an h). J.Crew publishes no body measurement for each collar — a dress shirt’s size chart is J.Crew’s letter tops chart — so we read each collar as the neck it’s made for: a 15½ fits a 15½″ neck. That is what J.Crew’s chart says (its Medium covers a 15–15½″ neck, the 15 and 15½ collars). Land on a collar and you get it; between two, we name both and lean to the larger.
• The sleeve comes from your arm length, measured J.Crew’s way: elbow bent, from the center back of your neck across your shoulder and down to your wrist. Not every collar comes in every sleeve — 14½ in 32 and 33, 15 in 32 to 34, 15½ and 16 in 32 to 35, 16½ in 33 to 36, 17 in 34 to 36 and 17½ in 35 and 36 — so if your sleeve isn’t on your collar’s menu, take the nearest it offers.
• Classic and Slim come in the same collars; Slim is narrower through the body and sleeves. Dress shirts sold by letter size on the Tops tab.

• Sold as chest sizes (32–52). If your product’s size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• J.Crew’s suit jackets, blazers, sport coats and tuxedo jackets sell by chest size and length (40/R). J.Crew publishes no body measurement for each size — a jacket’s size chart shows either J.Crew’s letter suiting chart or the jacket’s own garment measurements — so we read each size as the chest it’s cut for: a 40 fits a 40″ chest. That is what J.Crew’s chart says (its Medium is a 38–40″ chest, the 38 and 40 jackets), and its garment charts step one inch per size. Land on a size and it’s yours; between two, we name both and lean to the larger.
• The length is the S, R or L: J.Crew recommends Short for 5′7″–5′10″ (1″ shorter sleeves) and Long for 6′0″–6′3″ (1″ longer), Regular in between. Short comes in 34 to 42 and Long in 40 to 52; the 39 and 41 come in Regular only. Most jackets stop at a 50 Regular: only five go on to a 50 Long and a 52, in Regular and Long.
• The trench coat, the topcoat, the chore blazer and the Barbour wax jackets sold by chest size size here too, and suit and tuxedo pants on the Pants tab. J.Crew’s suiting chart stops at an XX-Large (47–49″), but its tops chart goes on to an XXXL for a 50–52″ chest and its garment charts keep the same inch per size, so the 50 and 52 read like every other size here. Few are in stock: when we checked, eight of the 55 jackets listing a 50 Regular had it, and three of the five listing a 52. A 32 comes only in three Barbour jackets, sold out when we checked.
• Most J.Crew jackets open a chart of the jacket’s own measurements — the garment’s chest, waist, shoulder and sleeve, a few inches over your body — in place of a body chart. We size by your chest, not that table.
