Gap Men’s Size Chart

Some Gap tops also come in Tall lengths — same body measurements, just cut longer or shorter. Pick the one for your height:

• Regular — standard length
• Tall — for men over 6′1″ (est.)

Not every product comes in every length.

Gap defines Tall by sleeve length, not height. Most people know their height, so we switch to Tall at about 6′1″ as a stand-in — an estimate bracketed by peers (Nike 6′0″, Adidas 6′2″). Enter your sleeve in the calculator for Gap's exact criterion.

• Sold as letter sizes (XS–XXXL). If your product's size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• Gap uses one chart for all tops — tees, shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and outerwear; there are no separate sub-charts to choose from.
• Gap says to order your regular size for Tall styles — Tall only lengthens the body and sleeves, while the chest and shoulders fit the same. So we size by one body chest and neck, and Tall just adds sleeve length.
• Gap does publish a separate Tall chart (you may see it on a product's size guide too) listing a different chest on five of its seven sizes — but it contradicts Gap's own Tall Fit Guide, which says regular sizes fit the same in the chest and shoulders and Tall only adds length. We follow Gap's stated rule, as its sister brands Old Navy and Banana Republic do on their own Tall charts.

• Sold as waist × length sizes (28–42). If your product's size options look different, use the tab that matches them.
• Gap's jeans, chinos and khakis are sold by numeric waist × length. Gap publishes no body chart for the numeric sizes — even a jean's own size guide shows the letter chart — so we map them 1:1: a size 32 fits a 32″ waist, and 32L is a 32″ inseam. Land on a sold number and that's your size; between two numbers we name both, leaning to the larger. Length is picked from your inseam, or your height if you haven't measured it.
• Gap's Regular fit runs 28–34 in length; 36L is only under the Tall fit (waists 32–38 on the Tall jeans we checked). Waists run 28–35 by ones, then 38, 40 and 42 — though not every product cuts every number (some jeans skip the 35). If the size or length you want isn't shown on a product, pick the closest it offers — we only flag a length as unavailable when it's beyond anything Gap seems to make.
• We size by your body waist — not the larger “WAIST” column on Gap's general chart, which is the finished-garment waistband (about 2″ bigger for ease). Gap's own product size guides print the waist we use: open any jean's size guide and its Waist row matches this chart.

Letter-sized underwear and swim size here too (Gap's own size guides on those products show this same chart). Products go up to XXXL, though Gap's size-guide page stops at XXL, so we treat XXXL as the catch-all for any waist past XXL.
• Gap's joggers come in Regular (32″ inseam) and Tall (36″) lengths — the inseams are Gap's own numbers, printed on its product size guides; the height cutoff (about 6′1″) is our estimate, and a measured inseam overrides it. We size the waist by your body, not the larger finished-garment “WAIST” column (~2″ bigger for ease).
